UNIK together
As we spend less time heading out and more time at home with our family, flatmates or solo, it's important to be kind to ourselves and to others around us. Remember to look after yourself and each other, nourish yourself, support each other and soothe your souls by giving yourself the space to be.
Inspired by our friends at Natalie Marie Jewellery sharing some words of wisdom and useful tips, we also wanted to share a few tips to try help you stay positive during this time of constant change and self-isolation
- Set up a good morning routine
- If you can leave the house, try to go for a walk outside every day
- Listen to a podcast: today we listened to this episode from GOOP which talks about how important a balanced immune system is (especially during times like this) and how stress, sleep and nutrition are the most important factors in how to achieve one
- Take care of yourself by exercising, eat healthy nourishing food and drink lots of water: one of our go-to sites for inspiration to cook healthy and easy meals is the Minimalist Baker. If you can’t head outside to do your daily exercise, try stream a yoga class online or download an exercise app. We love Yoga with Adriene, SWEAT by Kayla Itsines or the 7 Minute workout app
- Practice physical distancing, not social; call your friends for a chat, faceTime with loved ones and set up a ZOOM meeting and have dinner together with your friends through the screen
- Listen to music (and dance like nobody is watching). This mix by German DJ Mimi Love has been on our favourite playlist for a while. For something more upbeat we're loving Canson live @ the Garbicz Festival
- Read a book: right now we're reading The Motherhood and Practical Ayurveda
- Boost your immune system with lots of fresh Garlic, Ginger, Turmeric and Vitamin C. For more advice on this, amazing Naturopath Layla Metcalfe is offering free 15 min online consultations at the moment
- Pamper yourself with an at-home beauty treatment: we love this Manuka Honey Face Mask by Aotea, apply it with circular motions to exfoliate the skin and leave on for 20-30 minutes while you do some work on the laptop or sip a glass of wine. For some extra love for the skin, put on Aotea's super nourishing Night Cream afterwards, its magic. You will love it, we promise
- Start that new project you’ve always wanted to do
- Meditate – even if it's only 5 to 10 minutes. There's a lot of free guided meditations available online if you need a helping hand
- If you're leaving the house make sure to wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds, count it out while doing so (it’s actually quite a long time!) Read this article on why merely washing your hands with soap is one of the best things you can do right now
- Make your own natural antibacterial soap using Manuka Essential Oil and Castile soap (we use Dr Bronner's castile soap for this). Manuka oil is 30% more cleaning than Tea Tree oil and considered to be one of the most potent 100% natural disinfectants. Read more about the benefits, and how you can use Manuka oil on our Musings
- Subscribe to The Daily Good, a 30 second read delivered to your inbox every day with sustainable recipes, podcasts, artists, and interesting articles
- Support small businesses when you can, we all need each other during this time
- Find your own rhythm or routine for what works for you and your household during self-isolation
- Surrender to this time as it will pass and we will get onto our normal busy lives again
- Don’t lose hope or faith. There is nothing more important than our health
Together we will get through this. Together we can protect each other and together we can learn how to do things better, how to be kinder to the world we live in, and to ourselves
With Love,
Elin, Luci & Camilla
